As a advocate, can you attend IEP meetings with me?

Yes, I attend IEP meetings with families either in person or virtually, based on your preference and location. I am committed to supporting you throughout the process to ensure your child's needs are clearly communicated and effectively addressed.

In-person meetings are available within a 30-mile radius at no additional charge. For travel beyond 30 miles, a mileage fee of $0.60 per mile will apply.

What is an IEP?

An IEP, or Individualized Education Program, is a written plan created for a child who qualifies for special education services. It’s designed to meet your child’s unique learning needs and help them succeed in school.

The IEP outlines:

  • Your child’s current strengths and weaknesses
  • Specific learning goals for the school year
  • The services and supports the school will provide
  • How progress will be measured and shared with you

You’re an important part of the IEP team! The plan is created during a meeting that includes you, your child’s teachers, school staff, and sometimes specialists. Together, you work as a team to make sure your child gets the support they need to thrive.

What is a 504?

A 504 Plan is a written plan that helps students with disabilities succeed in school. It’s designed for children who don’t need special education but still need some support or accommodations to learn alongside their peers.

504 Plans are covered under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, a federal civil rights law that protects students with disabilities.

A 504 Plan might include things like:

  • Extra time on tests or assignments
  • Preferential seating in the classroom
  • Permission to take breaks when needed
  • Use of assistive technology
  • Modified homework or testing formats

These plans are personalized to meet your child’s needs and help remove barriers that may affect their learning. You, your child’s teachers, and school staff will work together to create and update the plan as needed.

Can I contact you with questions regarding my child's IEP or 504?

Yes, of course! I welcome questions from families who need support understanding their child’s IEP or 504 Plan. Whether you’re looking for clarification, guidance, or advocacy support, I’m here to help you navigate the process with confidence.
